Dr. Fahad Zaman

Biography

Dr. Fahad Zaman, received his B.S., M.S, and Ph. D. degrees in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tennessee, (UTK), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. He worked on characterizing the lunar albedo radiation using multiple radiation transport codes, examining the spectra of galactic cosmic rays, and studying the effects of extreme solar particle events on future missions to the Moon and Mars. Fahad is a team member of Cosmic Ray Telescope for the Effects of Radiation aboard NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter monitoring the radiation environment near the lunar surface. He specializes in space radiation, radiation protection, and Monte Carlo radiation shielding and transport modelling. Throughout his career, Dr Zaman received training in multiple nuclear research facilities around the world, including Oak Ridge National Lab, Y-12 National Security Complex, VR-1 Reactor at Czech Technical University in Prague, and the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre (SCK•CEN).
