Biography

Rayan Al-Kalbani is an Omani Entrepreneur in Science. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry from the Sultan Qaboos University in Oman, and a Master’s of Science in Chemistry from Freie Universitäte Berlin in Germany. Her passion for innovation and entrepreneurship led to her co-founding Mazoon Environmental & Technological Services LLC (METS) in 2008, within The Knowledge Mine (TKM), the first Omani business incubator program located in Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM). She currently serves as the Executive Director of METS, which has become a well reputed Omani small medium enterprise (SME) that provides environmental biotechnological solutions, high standard pollution monitoring and analytical services, in addition to environmental consultancy.

Her efforts and achievements have received national and international recognition, where she was awarded the winner of “Big Business Idea Competition”, by TKM and Ernst & Young in Oman in 2008. In 2010, she received the “Intilaaqah’s Best Entrepreneur” award in Oman, and in 2014, she was selected by the United States Department of State to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) program: “Women’s Innovation in Science and Engineering”. A year later, she was inducted into Science Hall of Fame of the United States Department of State, Near Eastern Affairs Bureau. That same year, she was given the Mar’a Excellence Award in Science & Industry in Oman. Mrs. Al-Kalbani also serves as a reviewer for the Tech-I Competition held in her home country.
