Dr. Fatima Yahya Al-Aydaroos

Senior specialist Space science - United Arab Emirates (UAE) Space Agency

Biography

Dr. Al-Aydaroos works as a Space Science Senior Specialist at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Space Agency. She is primarily responsible for managing the Earth observation and planetary science activities within the Agency and harmonizing these across the UAE space sector as a whole, through the Emirates Space Science and Innovation Group (ESIG), setup by the Agency. She represents the Agency on the Emirate Mars Mission (EMM) Science Team and supports the Agency in overseeing the science aspect of the EMM. Prior to her enrolment in the agency, Dr. Al-Aydaroos was appointed as a Chairperson of the National Committee for Air Quality and Noise, when she was working for the National Center for Meteorology and Seismology. Prior to that, she worked as the Environmental Expert in the Abu Dhabi Municipality and contributed to a number of sustainability projects.

Dr. Al-Aydaroos is actively involved in raising awareness in space science through outreach activities across within the UAE community, such as managing the “Genes in Space Contest” for high school students, the first contest of its kind outside the United States. She has received several awards for scientific excellence, including the Top Award of the 4th Annual Research Conference from UAE University in 2002, as well as Sheikh Rashid Prize for Academic Excellence in 2003 and 2013. She has also participated in a number of international conferences and presented her work on tropospheric pollutants and health impacts.
