The talk is a part of the KFAS speaker series that aims to promote science, technology, and innovation in Kuwait.

In this lecture, Professor Julia Cage will discuss why quality news should be considered as a public good. She will investigate why this public good is under-provided in contemporary democracies. Finally, she will discuss several solutions that could be implemented to provide adequate long-term capitalization of news media while preserving media independence.

Julia Cagé is an Assistant Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at Sciences Po Paris, and a Research Affiliate at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in Economic History, Public Economics and Industrial Organization.

The talk is open to the public and will feature Arabic translation in real-time.
