This talk will describe the series of events that led to the optical flaw that prevented the Hubble Space Telescope from being able to focus properly.
He will then describe the December 1993 rescue mission in which Hoffman and his fellow astronauts performed a record-breaking five spacewalks to repair Hubble. Finally, he will discuss Hubble’s impact on astronomy and present some of its most noteworthy discoveries.
