The program

KFAS, in collaboration with the British Embassy; Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS); Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and Kuwait University (KU), is holding a two-days symposium focusing on marine litter and waste management practises and strategies being developed in Kuwait.

The sessions will delve into the current understanding of marine litter in Kuwait and future research requirements, economic and societal impact of plastic pollution, progress towards a circular economy, governance and waste management strategies and the role of NGOs in education, outreach and societal change.

The symposium will explore the level of public engagement on this issue, in recognition of the fact that changes in consumer and societal behaviour will be key to successful intervention actions. The outcomes will be used to develop a national action plan to address the mitigation of marine litter in Kuwait.
