Ms. Marie Aloia

Engineering Teacher

Bayonne High School - New Jersey

Marie Aloia is an alternate-route engineering teacher at Bayonne High School in New Jersey, where, in 2008, she initiated a couple engineering programs at the high school, called “Intro to Engineering”, a program addressing the fundamentals of engineering, and another called “Engineering”, a portfolio class. Her efforts have led to several recognitions for her students, including the Intel Science and Engineering Fair, Science Talent Search, and the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. She has also initiated and currently coaches other activities, including two FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Teams and the Technology Student Association. In 2009, she served on the National Assessment Educational Progress, Technology and Engineering Literacy (TEL) Framework Planning Committee. Her achievements have led to several awards, such as the Mentor Intel Science Talent Search Finalist in 2008, the Society for Science and the Public Teacher Fellow in 2010, and the Outstanding Teacher Young Science Achievers Program in 2011.
