King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre
Dr. Al-Mozaini received her doctoral degree from Imperial College School of Medicine in London and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Infectious Disease Division of the Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard Medical School. During her fellowship, she was supported by an award from the Dubai-Harvard Foundation for Medical Research. She established and currently heads the “Immunocompromised Host Research” section at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center.
Dr. Al-Mozaini is one of the few investigators conducting HIV-1 related research in Saudi Arabic, and has already made a substantial contribution to the field of immunocompromised host research, funded by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KASCT). She is currently working on the development of an HIV awareness program. She is also dedicated to further developing international collaborations for HIV-1 and transplant research, in collaboration with the Ragon Institute at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University. This strategic alliance will offer a unique opportunity to perform parallel investigations on immune dysregulation and immune deficiency in patients from two different continents with different genetic backgrounds, and will initiate immunological and molecular research collaborations through a global perspective. This cross-cultural contribution to understanding immune dysfunction will improve the life quality of patients living with immune deficiency in both countries.
Dr. Al-Mozaini has received several awards for her contributions, including the Scholarship for Investigative Research Scientist Award from the International Aids Society in 2011, and the L’Oréal UNESCO Women in Science Award (FWIS) in the MENA Region in 2015.
