Member Parliament of Mongolia

Her Excellency Dr. Undraa Agvaanluvsan is Member of Parliament of Mongolia, and is the current Chair of the Mongolia-Italy parliamentary caucus, as well as the Deputy Chair of Mongolia-US parliamentary caucus. She worked as director of Strategy Academy, a think-tank associated with the Mongolian People’s Party prior to being elected as a Member of Parliament in 2016. She was also appointed as Deputy director of the Institute of Strategic Studies of the National Security Council and was advisor to the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy. In 2010, Dr. Undraa was appointed as Ambassador-at-large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.

Dr. Undraa Agvaanluvsan obtained her PhD in physics at North Carolina State University, after completing undergraduate and master’s degrees in physics at National University of Mongolia and diploma at International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy. Following her studies, she conducted research at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and taught energy policy at International Policy Studies program at Stanford University. She is currently an affiliate of Center for International Security and Cooperation at Stanford University. She is also a Co-chair of Mongolia chapter of the Women Corporate Directors (WCD), a global organization of women who serve on public and private boards.

Dr. Undraa serves or has served on several corporate and advisory boards including the Mongolian Oil Shale Company and Rio Tinto Mongolia Advisory board, as well as Mongolian National Fashion Chamber, supportive of sustainable fashion and industry. Her awards and honors include the Distinguished Service Award of the Petroleum Industry of Mongolia, Distinguished Service Award of Environmental Protection for Mongolia, and an Asia 21 Fellow of Asia Society. She is President-emeritus of MASA - Mongolian US Alumni Association. She has also co-founded the Mitchell Foundation, and co-initiated the Mongolia Young Leaders Program, which has grown into the largest program of its kind intended for young Mongolians studying all around the world. This has span off as a separate program called the Mongolian Young Leaders Network of which Dr. Undraa remains as an Honorary President.
