Dr. Ikhlaq Sidhu - Ikhlaq Sidhu, Chief Scientist, and Founding Director, of UC Berkeley's Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology, & IEOR Emerging Area Professor

Biography

A world-class expert in “real-life” technology innovation and leadership. Invented the technology used in Skype and other internet communications (over 60 patents). Dr. Sidhu received the IEEE Major Education Innovation Award of 2018 for bringing Entrepreneurship and Innovation into the field of Engineering. He received the IEOR Emerging Area Professor in 2009 from his department at UC Berkeley. In 1999, he received 3Com Corporation’s Inventor of the Year Award for work in Internet communications. He is academically trained, and yet highly applied. He developed Data-X, the highly popular applied data course at UC Berkeley. Serves on many advisory boards. Created the Entrepreneurship & Technology area at the #1 public university in the world. Dr. Sidhu received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and his masters’ degree and doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University.
