There has been a boom in investment in technology designed to improve the efficiency of building design, property development, occupation markets, property data analysis, property investment and finance. This is called “PropTech”.

Using virtual reality, artificial intelligence, web platforms and apps, amongst other new technologies, over 6,000 new business have raised over $50bn in funding over the last 5 years and are using this money to transform the property industry.

In this talk, Professor Andrew Baum will be covering the following topics:

o The origins of the current PropTech wave lie in the global financial crisis, Apple and Airbnb

o Big tech, energy, climate and social impact issues will increasingly affect cities

o Digital innovation is driving the development and occupier markets – the capital markets are waiting and watching

o Property organizations need to decide how to respond to the drive to innovate
